1. To use, simply unscrew engraver pen from the middle section turning counter-clockwise. Insert 2 batteries (not included) positive+ end facing up.
2. Hold the engraver in the same manner as you would a pen or pencil. Make sure your thumb is gently resting on the on-off control button located on the lower barrel.
3. Apply slight pressure with your thumb to activate scribing point. As tool is operating place point on surface to be marked and apply slight pressure while writing about the same as you would while writing with a pen).
4. The tool will turn itself off when you release your thumb pressure from the control button.
