A rare relic of American wartime frugality, this 1940s ration book holder was distributed by Cotton's Holsum Bread to encourage loyalty and thrift during World War II. Made of thin paperboard with bright red and navy graphics, it includes printed fields for the owner's name and address and boldly asks, “Shopping less often?” A striking example of both war-era rationing and early food branding.
