Mildred Wetzel coastal painting on canvas original signed

Original coastal acrylic painting painted by local art enthusiast and instructor, Mildred Wetzel. The painting in 18 Inches wide by 14 inches tall. The frame is 24 x 20 inches.From her obituary: Mildred Scalf Wetzel was born on 11/28/1929 in Betsy Layne, KY, she grew up during the depression and World War II. Times were tough for a coal miners daughter, but she pursued drawing; charcoal and colored pencils, water colors. Her family pulled their resources and sent her to the Art Academy in Cincinnati, and the Apex School of Design, where she graduated. She worked for a design firm, and won awards for her successful designs. She began painting, and even taught some of the neighbors. She later married Wayne Wetzel, and taught him to paint as well. She taught acrylic painting through community education, and won first place for several paintings in the local county fair. Her favorite subjects were flowers and seascapes. She passed away on May 9, 2024, in Jacksonville, FL.
