I have personally owned this since it was new. It is a self-winding watch and does not require a battery. While I could not get it to start, I think a good cleaning would probably take care of the problem. I did open the back to check the condition, and it shows no of corrosion. There are some light scratches on the watch face but could probably buffed out. The watch band has a lot of wear.
